rookie question - reinstalling 98 and saving the hardware drivers
Hi
I would like to re-install 98 on a friends pc. They do not have all of the drivers for the hardware on seperate floppy's and cd's (lost over time). is there a way of copying the drivers that are currently installed so that when i re-format the HDD and re-install the OS i can re-install the old drivers too.? Thanks |

Hi CardUK,
You can use Windriver Backup to copy the drivers to a folder. If you are going to format the entire HD, then you can copy the drivers to floppy or CD-R. http://www.jermar.com/wdrvbck.htm If the HD has more than one partition (e.g. C for Windows and D for data) you could save the folder to the data partition and then just format the partition with Windows on it. Then reinstall Windows on C and have Windows find the drivers in the driver folder on D. HTH |
