I just went through hell

I was talking on AIM. Suddenly I realize that I cannot right click and copy/paste, but I can CTRL+C and even CTRL+V. So I exit out of AIM, but I notice that I cannot click on any Desktop icons or even click on start.

I scanned for Viruses/Trojans/Spyware and found none last nite.

So I reboot the PC, and I am able to boot up into Normal Mode. My LAN connection is not enabled, so I click on the LAN icon on my desktop and my PC just freezes, but I am able to CTRL+ALT+DEL, so I End Task some programs but no help.

I reboot and then I cannot run anything.
I reboot into Safe Mode. Safe Mode freezes on me.
So I reboot and boot into SAFE Mode but with Networking, and guess what? Everything is working like charm.

So I power down the PC and unplug my optical devices and my NIC. I boot up into normal mode. Able to click on stuff, but then it just freezes.

CPU temps are good, at about 100*F, and System temps at about 90*F.

NIC running with WIN2K drivers, Video Card with latest drivers, and Sound Card running with CD drivers.

I had to reformat the whole thing. Also, I ran Chdsk and it did not help, neither did repair installation on 2K setup.

What do you all think was the problem?

I recently ran a Registry clean.

Now that the hard drive is reformatted, I am going to try to find the latest drivers for my Creative Sound Blaster sound card.
