After installing 2 updates and rebooting I'm getting this darn fatal, any suggestions (I know, stay away from MS Updates!) would be appreciated, thanks in advance for your help!

Did U try safe mode?? U may end up reinstalling, U can just use the win98 cd and do an install on top of the present on and that should fix it and save all your programs and data.

win 98 se

Restart in dos- at prompt type scanreg .exe. it should give you a choice to restore to an earlier cab file. This may solve your problem without having to reinstall windows. worth a try!

Yes see if U can press F8 right before windows begins to load and get the alternate boot menu and you should be able to go to command prompt and as far as I know the command to restare the registry from the command prompt is:
scanreg /restore

Thanks for your help!

I tried turning back the hands of time but it didn't help, so for some unknown reason I desided to run find for Installl.exe and low and behold I found a new verson, hmm??? I deleted the new (second) instance and all is good!

Thanks again for your help!
