Clock runs fast

I use XP Pro and every day, the clock gets 4 minutes ahead. What is causing this problem?

Have you downloaded or installed anything new lately? I have seen some programs speed up or slow down the clock.

If I can remember right, I think it has something to do with a bad CMOS battery. Not quite sure though.

Ah, any particular precautions when replacing it other than the power down and battery swap?

make a note of your bios setings on every screan as it can reset the bios back to defults so you nead to go back in and change setings all so when the case is open give the computer a clean with some compresd air and a small vacume cleaner make shore you take anti static procations when working in side the pc

Yea. The time thing doesn't bother me that much since I have a clock right next to my computer anyway. It's just something I'd like to have a handle on until it becomes a predominant issue.
