Hello,
what is "Common Files"?I was stupid enough to try Imesh and all it's adwares and now that I've deleted everything that came with it,ran Ad Aware, and then running Spybot I see a new file folder in C:/My Programs.I keep close watch of what is in there and I know for a fact that this "Common Files" folder was not there before I installed Imesh. The question is how do I get it out, when I right click on it to delete it,it says that deleting the "common files folder may cause some programs to not work properly AND msonsext.dll could not be removed because it may be used What is this thing?? |

Hi Sam
Take a look at a few of these articles, they might help: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/robotarmy/ http://mywebpages.comcast.net/robotarmy/P2P/imesh.htm You might be able to run some of the removal from Safe Mode, if you get "in use" errors in a normal startup. . . . Gary [I'm usually over in the ancient Win9x forum lately, since it matches my own CroMagnon ways . . . and since I forget most of everything until it's at least 5 years ago]

Yes, the "Common Files" folder itself is a normal folder in a Windows system. But certain items or subfolders within that folder are added by programs that you install.
Spywareinfo.com seems to recommend WinMx as a safer alternative to IMesh. It's your choice, though. Truth is, I have to rely on industry news about such programs, as I don't use them myself, and they are strictly forbidden in any form here at the lab. Nice to see you here at the forum . . . Gary |
