I have WinXP pro installed--I wonder if any of the many entries in the "services" section can be deleted/reset to yield faster performence...ie..I notice alot of settings for network..I am running without a network....

I run basic stuff..email/weather graphics and forums such as this..printer is a bsic HP inkjet.

Note what you changed, especially if you're new. Service Pack 1 changes a lot of thiings.

I've found the best thing was just to go into MSCONFIG and turn off the messenger and automatic updates.

Another task list site:

"Through our support service we often come across problems caused primarily by programs running in the background, programs which in most cases start at the same time as Windows. Sometimes these programs are useful and need to be there; quite often, however, they are not needed, and in too many cases they cause severe problems."
