Question edit/select all ?

In Win 98 and Millenium I could edit/ select all and the total of files in folder and size (MB, KB etc.) would show on bottom of folder but not with XP. I have alot of MP3 files and like to keep them up to date and organized, but am losing track of them due to this. How do I edit folder options for this or do I have to go to folder properties each time, or highlight and go to properties? I want the easier route..(edit/select all)
Thanks, D.

Send a message via AIM to Fuze
cntrl+A will select all. Or you could right click any open space in the folder and select all. Also to view the totals in the folder, go to "view > status bar"

Hi wilder,

I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you saying Edit > Select All doesn't work? Or are you saying you can't see the stats?

If you not seeing the stats, click on View and then Status Bar. It will then list the number of files, but doesn't show the size (at least on my machine...).

Got It-ThankYou

Sorry about the confusion..
Edit>Select All works, but stats were not automatically showing at bottom of window.
I was sure I had tried View>Status Bar but I wasn't aware that in XP you have to chose to view the status bar in each individual folder. In W98 and Me it is in View>Folder Options and it will customize All folders at once without going to each individual folder.
It also show size of files, I just have to widen the folder a little...
Thanks for your help!

You still have the folder Option to make all folders "look like this one." Under view, click "Apply to All Folders"

You may have to Uncheck "Remember Each folders view settings" to override the "custom" setting of the folders you've been to.

Yes, you're right!
Hadn't even tried that. I just got XP, I had ME, but I guess I still prefer W98! Not a whole lot of differences, just irritating little things, like, I want to view some of my folders as web pages, but not all of them. AND without all that "also see related.....
Thank you!

I hear ya!! I'm a recent switch over to XP also -- a holdout from Win 98.2... Overall I like XP but it's the "getting use to it" part that hurts! I can't do a lot of simple little things that were so automatic in Win 98.2. I think MS like to just change things to, well.... just change things!
