How to move My Documents folders to different partition

I just setup a new machine with XP pro on it. I've partitioned a 120 gig drive with 3 partitions. One 10 gig partition for the OS and primary apps that drive my hardware. Then I have a larger partition 60 gig where I want all other programs and data to be store. When XP installed, it setup all the My Documents folders for each user as well as the Shared space on the C drive. I want them on a different partition, how can I move it and tell XP to default all future program installations to my F drive?

Thanks

Thanks, I'll do it. However, that seems rather tedious. Everytime I install a program it defaults everything to C. Isn't there some settings area in XP that I can tell it to default all future program installations, and new user setup data to be save to the F partition instead of C?

Thanks

It should do that automatically after you have selected the F:/ partition once. The next time you go to install a program it will already ask you to save it to the F:/ partition.

Also, you can just use Copy - Paste. That's what I do when I back up my data everyweek. Just Copy and Paste to my second HDD.

Ok, I went to the "Document & Settings" folder in the root of c drive and there was no option to move the folder. It said the folder was a "windows system folder and for windows to
run properly it cannot be moved or renamed".

I also tried to move the "Shared Documents" folder, and it said if I moved it it would no longer be shared. I'm quite confused here. All I want to do is have all the "My document" and Shared My document folders on a different partition.

Am I doing something wrong?

Set up a new master folder in your new partition. You can call it "Sam's folders" or what ever name you chose. Then create a shortcut for it where you want, (desktop, taskbar, etc.) Make it a shared folder and drag and drop all you other folders to it or click on "move this folder" on the left menu (or right click and move). Then remove the shortcuts for My Documents and Shared Documents and don't put anything in them. That's how I worked around the problem.

Panama Red variation of the idea is I put that folder inside My Documents. That way, when you click a SAVE or SAVE AS, since it defaults to MY DOCUMENTS, that created folder will be on the initial screen.
