How to delete Windows XP folder in a partition?

One of my multiple installations of Windows XP on same computer stopped working a while ago. I tried to manually delete that folder form the partition because I dont want to format it because of other files on it. But the folder cant be deleted. How can this security measure be disabled?

I`m sure someone else here can give a better answer but have you tried going into safe mode,or renaming the folder?

Is it on an NTFS volume?
There are several places you would want to deal with if one of your installations of XP quit on a multiboot setup. You will first need to ensure the folder you want to delete is for the bad XP install, and then you will want to make sure all the info is right for your boot.ini file. XP does not like deleting anything it calls a system file, even for older versions of windows on the machine. You may need to boot from the floppy or CDROM and access it in DOS to get some of those files out of there. I have had some luck with NTFSDOS to mount an NTFS volume to do the same.
