No Indeo vid drivers in XP SP1 !!
While searching for free Indeo drivers (as they've "always" been free) I discovered that they are no longer free. Ligos wants $14 for them now.
I did find the quote below within my search results and apparently it is correct. My pre-SP1 XP install does have version 5.10 installed, but a recent build with XP SP1 does not.

This is from ligos.com concerning Indeo codecs:
"With the September 2002 update to Windows XP (known as Service Pack 1), Microsoft suspended distribution of the Indeo codecs as a base part of its operating system. This only affects users with new PCs that are shipping with Windows XP Service Pack 1, or clean installs of Windows XP SP1 on an older system. Unfortunately, a number of game and multimedia titles require Indeo to be installed on the OS in order to function.
Free versions of Indeo and the Indeo Codecs Legacy Package for Windows are no longer available ".
Now you have to buy them.

worked, actually got it downloaded.
Advice is when you do get this codec, make a back-up or two.
Never know when ability to download will totally disappear.

PS: I believe the link above is for V5.11 and not 5.2. They are charging for the 5.2
