Odd Xp problems.
I have a WinXp computer here that after being on for about 5 minutes basically certain functions seem to no longer function. Cut/copy and paste don't work, I no longer have the ability to drag and drop files and folders to any other location, certain files - mainly mp3's - no longer play when double clicked but work fine if you go to "Open With", Windows Update and Help and Support don't open anymore. They seem to be mostly unrelated things, but I was told it all seemed to start a few days ago. Wondering if anybody had any thought on it?
Oh yes, system seems to be adware, virus, and trojan free. No error messages, system seems to run just fine with the exception of these things. Box probably got borked somehow, and reformatting would be a major pain. |

Have you tried using system restore to get going again?

The person that assembled the computer seems to have disabled system restore when he first installed windows.

Boot with the XP CD and choose the Repair function.
