Hi, I ma trying to do an update from the MS windows 'Update page http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp . Problem is.. that it will not seem to read my HD, so as to detect what updates I need!
Anyone know of how I can fix this. Thx. in advance 4 ya help!

sometimes it helps to clear out your temp internet files and cookies.

Win98 freezes. (Cont'd)
Yes I have tried that, deleted temp files; cookies, etc,. Even thought that my Norton f/wall had something to do w/ it.. didn't!

Thx, everyone for your input! But I just figured it out! This is how to 'fix' the problem:
Disable the options "Automatically detect settings" and "Use automatic configuration script." To do this: 1. Open Internet Explorer. 2. Click "Tools," and then click "Internet Options." 3. Click "Connections," and then click "LAN Settings." 4. Make sure the check boxes for "Automatically detect settings" and "Use automatic configuration script" are not selected.
