svchost.exe - is there no fix?

Before this post, I checked pretty thoroughly on the Web for posting this error message:

Svchost.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows etc. etc.

It seems that this error can be caused by many different things and a look at Event Viewer in Windows 2000 might help. Also looking at www.eventviewer.com might help, also looking on M$KB website migt help. Well, I can tell you, after looking at all these – I’m still in the dark.

So much so, that instead of spending hours and hours trying different technical solutions, I just reinstalled the W2K image from another partition I had created with Drive Image 5.0. That’ll fix it I thought, no further worries. Not so fast, my first Internet access (DUN) brought the same b…dy error message.

Well, it’s got to be the heat, It’s so damn hot here in France that I reckon all the PCs are behaving weirdly. So, I’ll ignore the problem, reboot and wait for the same error again.

(PS do they similar problems with LINUX?)

Thanks Mairving - it turned out to be the Blast virus - so have now installed the Patch and Zone Alarm. ZA is very intrusive but then I guess it's supposed to be and that's what I'll have to get used to.
