Boom svchost.exe has generated errors

Hi,

I have just gotten the following message on my desktop :

program error.
svchost.exe has generated errors and willbe closed by windows. You will nee to restart the program.
An error log is being created.

It seems like i therefore cant run excel, nor was I able to cut and paste in outlook.

Can these symptoms be as a result of the svchost.exe problem?

how do I fix it?

any reply apprciated.

I most likely was the same issue.

I downloaded the latest patch rom MS
and then followed symantec advice as below
http://securityresponse.symantec.com...ster.worm.html

1Disable System Restore (Windows XP).
2Update the virus definitions.
3End the Trojan process.
4Run a full system scan and delete all the files detected as W32.Blaster.Worm.
5Reverse the changes that the Trojan made to the registry.

thanks for the help. P
