Upgrade from 98 to 2000 Pro
When I try to upgrade I get these compatibility messages:
BDA Sink not present BDA MPE Filter not present BDA Slip De-Framer not present NABTS/FEC Vb1 Codec not present World Standard Teletext codec not present. I have tried upgrading from 98. I have tried clean install but nothing seems to work. Computer crashed after install. I have an Asus P3C-E mobo Matrox g400 VC Creative Sc 3com modem. Rambus memeory Can someone tell me how to work around this or install the items needed or fix them. Thanks, Tom |

Hmm it could be bad RAM. Win2K/XP is more picky about RAM than Win9x.
Anyway, when you do a clean install, when does the computer crash and how ? Blue screen ? Is it already during install or at the first or second bootup ? RJ

RJ, I think the message goes something like this. If this is the first time you have seen this message Re-boot. After booting up again I get the same message. Tom

Yeah that's a blue screen. I once experienced it with a bad mainboard, but in your case I'd first check the RAM. Try it with only one stick of RAM, maybe even different RAM.
