how to get rid of virus from computer

recently my computer got a computer virus call "MSBlast" i have no idea how to get rid of this computer virus. in general if a computer get a virus. how to remove it. can anyone teach me step by step. in some case if anitviurs program can't catch the virus what should i do. then, how to recover the system.

Check out the link in this thread...It is easy to understand and follow. You can find the links to the patch that you need to prevent it from happening again. Make sure you physically disconnect the pc from the internet. Oh, and try to get the patch before this saturday. The worm is supposed to take the micro$oft website offline.
