2 quick questions:

1: Can someone remind me how to make a system disk in win98se because I can't remember.

2: My cousin has 512Mb of ddr on his win98 box. It has an asus p4pe, 2.2 P4, and overall it is very fast. He is considering adding another 512 stick to increase speed of rendering 3d animation and video editing. I have already read the thread about adding this much ram to 98, and I am wondering if this will increase or decrease his performance.

thanks for any responses...

i have 1 gig of DDR RAM and i put my swap file in memory... the lowest i ever get is like 350MB of free RAM, and that's only when i leave it on to d/l somethin (win98 has bad memory managment). it helps during games and such too b/c one time i saw it at 160 MB free... but usually its around 512 to in the 700's MBs free.

Bottom line i recommend the added memory for heavy gamers and those who do video editing. But if you just browse the internet and burn cd's i'd say no.

Depends on the mobo. on the memory,I have seen systems slow down because the mobo could`nt handle to much memory.

Cool

WIN98 needs a VCHACE setting change for RAM in excess of 512K

Here's another way to make a nice Win98 bootdisk: "To make a better Windows 98 bootdisk then the one that came with your Windows CD, put in your CD and seek out \tools\mtsutil\fat32ebd\fat32ebd.exe and double click on the file." (from bootdisk.com)
