I third that (Windows XP). Though NTFS isn't recommended unless you're running a server really, as the extra protection isn't required and can mess you up sometimes (e.g. if you don't have a spare PC to read NTFS when your computer goes balls up :P).

What ? No, NTFS is always recommended over FAT32 unless you plan to share the same parition with a Win9x Operating System installed on the same computer (as Win9x can't handle NTFS).
NTFS does not mess up the PC, and it is far more reliable and performing better and can handle fragmentaition way better than FAT32.
All my friends and I who are running WinXP with NTFS had never a problem, but I experienced a corrupt FAT32 twice, once on my PC, once on a friend's PC.
The last time I used FAT32 was with Windows 98, and when I had the 60 GB hard drive and wanted to open the "my files" folder .. it slowed down coz FAT32 was already at its limits.
Also the file size limit of 4 GB. . . for video editing you can forget. There is not advantage of running FAT32 instead of NTFS.
And about the extra protection: Yep, two of my friends do require them.
