IE Service Pack

I don't install XP SP1 because I've done it once and it caused trouble, but is the IE service pack different and does it not cause problems?

Well, I'll say it this way:

XP SP1 is installed on my machine and on every friend's machine running XP, I have even slipstreamed on the WinXP CD because it is so great and makes WinXP even better.

What I wanted to say with that: Your question "does it not cause problems?" can only be answered by yourself, as problems (unless they're common ones) don't occur on every PC.

And basically, the IE service pack is not any different. Like any other service pack it contains all bugfixes that have been released by that date for the particular program. Of course, the contents of WinXP SP1 and IE SP1 are not the same, but IE SP1 is included in WinXP SP1.

well I just meant do you hear stories about IE SP as you do with the XP one. I think people probably tried the XP update and not the IE one.

Actually I hear stories about problems with every program. There's no program that every single person on this planet is happy with.
Also most horror stories I hear are when the product is brand new released.
But I have the impression that most people are able to run XP SP1 without problems and since it includes the IE service pack they have no reason to install it separately. I too never did.

Sorry but you need to install it and find out by yourself. The results are often too different to tell you for sure if the IE SP will or will not cause any problems on your particualar computer.
