Keep getting this popup...
Something of that nature keeps popping up while Im on this computer. I don't know if it happens on the other computer yet though. Could it be that I don't have my router plugged in and Im connected directly to the net?
Edit: I have not gone to any of the sites that has popped up.

I've seen something similar, and like you, have not gone to any of their sites. Seems like either a good sales pitch, or a good way to send a trogan or virus to someone...

Yes, the router not being used is one reason the other is because you have the Messenger Service set at auto by default, you can set it to disable in Services.

You've either been hacked or downloaded some spyware. You probably have ports that are wide open without the router. Scan for spyware first with Adware or Spybot. Also go to www.grc.com and run "shields up" and other tests to check your ports' vulnerability.
A friend supposedly got hacked the first day he put his new computer on cable internet. He hadn't even surfed the net yet. Somehow he ended up with several virus and trojans that could not be cleaned. Real bad news. We had to reformat the drive. Lucky for him he didn't have any important data on the drive yet. He installed a D-Link router the next day and hasn't had any problems.

It is not a hack or spyware. All it is is info being sent to your comp from most likely ur ISP. I used to get those messages as soon as I got cable but the router is saving me from those annoying pop-ups. My cousin recently also got cable and the same situation is occurring. It is nothing big to worry about just try to ignore it.

Well hopefully this router will stop it. I posted the fix I did in the tread I posted about the router.
