"ping!" ?!

Ok, i must hurry because i'm late for work. But upon restarting my comp i heard a noise that i realized shouldn't belong. "PING!" It's comming from my speakers, not out of the comp itself. It happens right before the desktop loads, and before the windows startup sound kicks in. Does anyone know what this is? I don't know if my specs are important because it hasn't done this before but my sis says it's been happening for a month or so. I'm running Widows ME. Thanks for your help

Might be just another bleep, maybe you have switched the internal bleep in the bios so it comes out of the speaker i dunno just guessing really!

Check in the Windows sound scheme to make sure that the Start up sound is not set to ping (as you put it).

Open your Autoexec.bat file (in "wordpad" and look for a program that loads before Windows such as a HW monitor or virus or ad scanner. If you find one, you may be able to find the "ping" in its configuration page of the program.
Or maybe you're using too low of an octane level.
