If you're unsure of which one your using, try the 32bit version first. To run the 64bit version, I believe you need a 64bit processor...

Is there even 64 bit XP "Home Edition" ? Thought only WinXP Pro comes in 64 bit.
@Evo You have WinXP 32 bit edition. All current PCs are 32 bit and use 32 bit windows. Unless you're a computer freak that really wanted a 64 bit cpu and a 64 bit windows (and then you'd have known that you own a 64 bit windows) you don't have a 64 bit version. RJ

Also, according to the microsoft website, neither Home Edition or Professional Edition comes as 64 bit, the 64 bit windows is simply called 64-bit-Edition, so there is Windows XP Home, Professional, and 64-bit.
