Messenger Service
Hey, how do I disable the messenger service that pops up an advertisement every so often for windows xp?

Click Start - type "services.msc" (without quotation marks) - find Messenger - right click on it - select Properties - select Startup Type - click on Disable ..
*Presto*.... you're done!

really appreciated it, cuffs007 =) i had that problem too and at first i thought it was spyware/virus so i ran virusscan and adaware but no avail.

Don't forget to stop the service while disabling it.
