IRQL_DRIVER fatal error
Hi,
Sometimes when I'm using my computer, there is a fatal error (which leads to rebooting) and the message says "IRQL_DRIVER_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" (This might not be the exact message.). Is there anyway to fix this problem? If somebody knows the cause and/or solution, please tell me. Thank you, goo-dru |

Yes that is the exact message goo-dru. You may have a stick of your RAM going bad or is bad. Post your specs for us about your computer. That will help everyone be able to solve your problem quicker.
I ran into this problem last year and had numerous issues. My mobo was bad, my RAM was bad, and the fan on my video card stopped working. I replaced everything and havent had trouble since then. My old mobo was a Giga-Byte, and the reviews arent very great on them anyways. A lot of people had trouble with them and the VIA chipset they ran on. Anyways. Let me know what is going on! Thanks!

Make sure you have all the correct drivers for your hardware, video, sound and so on,it`s more than likely that you have a bad memory stick however.

THANKS
Thanks to Acid-Klutch and eldon.
Memory is Elixer PC2700 256MB. And my mother board is from Asrock. Recently, I had my PC serviced and I've been told that the memory is fine. But, the mother board is bad. In fact the exact line he said was, "I've never heard this brand". ![]() According to him, the compatibility between mother board and memory is the problem. There's gonna be a computer fair in early of September, and I'm planning to get a new mother board from ASUS and see what is going to happen. Again thanks ![]() from goo-dru |

I've never heard of Asrock either. Your plan to get a new ASUS board is a good one. Stick with quality boards and you will be much happier.

I would also change out the Elixer RAM to something by Crucial, Mushkin or Corsair. Actually I would try that before I tried a new motherboard.

actually asrock is part of the asus groop and a new player in the field of mother boards but the boards are good and well made as a lot of asus know how went in to them check out this link http://www.ocworkbench.com/2003/asro...8x/k7s8x-1.htm
the error you are geting is normaley bad ram so change the ram first befor the mobo as even if the ram is ok another 256mb will only help your computer run better

Thanks for your opinions I really appriciate it.
Oh well, I might as well better off getting new RAM and mother board. Let me have a talk with my bank account. =P As for mother board, I'm thinking about ASUS A7N8X (nForce). Since most people here are suggesting nForce over VIA. =D Oh I have a question about memory. I've posted a new thread in "General Hardware" forum. If I appriciate any posts. Thanks. http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?threadid=72951 Last edited by goo-dru; 08-21-2003 at 03:16 AM. |
