change the licence key in win98se

hi all
any on know how to change the licence key in win98se without
haveing to reinstall windows i did a repair of a cust pc and used my cd key but i need to put the customers cd key back on (i didnt have it at the time) i have serched the reg but cant find it will try any thing

You could try it at hardware key,local machine, software, microsoft, windows, current version, double clik on folder, click on product key. Gives a window with update possibility.
Never have done it so not sure that it upgrades the product code.

i figgerd out the problam with my reg search not finding the key i put the new key in the search box not the one i wanted to replace every one can have a laugh on me
