~ What is this?

I just recently did clean install of Windows XP Home Edition. I have set my desktop and found most of new settings and files, etc. but for the third or fourth time a file has suddenly appeared on my desktop with the only title "~" (without quotes). Properties doesn't identify, have checked MS and they say don't recognize the file....I keep deleting it but wonder if it is something I need somewhere or some type of virus or trojan. Ran spybot and AVG but nothing shows..any explanations from anyone????????/

I've had this before, I just deleted and didn't have any problems (that I know of).

It's a known bug in OE. Happens everytime you update the address book. Just delete it.

I get this starge file too I finally figured it out, It shows of after adding someone to your address book well on mine anyways and I found out it has to do with the address book because I opened the file with a HEX editer and the info inside had to do with names in the address book

I just delete it and be on my way
