about floppy boot disk
i do beleive this floppy boot disk has mcafee in it, which puts it in the boot sector. which i do not want is there any way to take it out cause i use norton, or maybe i'm wrong andit does not have it untill i put it in. all i know is i want to make sure its nnot in there. cause on this machine it is in the boot sector, so i wasn't sure if it did it when you put the floppy boot disk in.

Go into BIOS and check to see that the anti-virus feature is turned off (it checks the boot sector).

It's entirely possible the floppy has gone bad...which they do quite easily. Try making a new boot disk on a brand new floppy and see if you get better results.
