Backing up a protected folder
Howdy,
I am trying to make a backup of a HD's personal data. However, there's one folder inside the Documents and Settings that cannot be accessed and that prevents me from backing it up. Whenever I try to copy it to the other HD it prompts a message that the operation cannot be performed because the folder is protected. How can I back it up? TIA

What is the exact message you get when you try to access the folder, I mean, when you click on it?. What is the folder? What does it contain? Does he have any security software that might be causing the problem?
What OS is he running? Possibly the folder contains a file that is currently running an app when you try to access it and denies access. Last edited by KHT; 08-28-2003 at 03:58 PM. |

The message stated that I could not access or copy the data as it was protected.
Actually got around it by taking possesion of the folder as Admin. Thank you all anyway.
