Hi

My computer is displaying the above message.

Does anyone know how to replace this file. This file was corrupted with a virus and had to be deleted.

if you can boot to windows then click start run and type cmd and hit enter in the dos box that appers type sfc/scannow and hit enter it will ask for your xp cd
if you cant get to windows boot from your xp cd and at the first screan hit enter to set up windows and on the next screan hit repair and let windows fix it for you all so as you had a virus its very important to turn of system restore and deleat all your restor points then turn system restor back on otherwise you may restore the virus and have to start agen

that is a virus file

There is no file system.exe or at least there shouldnt be. Please do not run a restore/repair yet as you might lose settings that you might like to keep.

system.exe is a file that iwas part of the virus that norton rightfully got rid of. It just has an official sounding name so that people dont get suspicious. Please check your startup settings to see where system.exe is called from and remove reference to it. If you require help on how to check these settings please post back here. When posting, it will also help immensely if you gave us the name of the virus you got - it would help us give you more direct information.
