Upon trying to install Sp1 on my XPPro, i unfortunately found out the computer i am using has an illlegal version of XP Pro
Now that I know this, i want to purchase the full version of XP Pro. Now my Q is, what do I have to do to switch from the illegal to the legal version? Here is a point which may be handy. I recently formatted my PC and made an image of it using Norton Ghost 2002. Correct me if im wrong, could i format my PC. Then install the fresh legal version and then restore my PC to the image that I previously made while using the illegal version? If yes, any comments? If not, then what else? thanks in advance.

if you restor an image it will be the old illlegal version that gets put back and you then have to chang the Product key on XP aggen your best option is make a new image affter you chang the Product key

Why not install the legal version and then restore critical data which should be no problem and re install apps.
You`re installing a fresh OS so why not do it right? |
