Pissed Unreadable floppy disks

Why can't I read in XP/2000 some floppy discs created in Win9x?

When I try to access them a message appears telling me the floppy is not formatted?

And why can't floppies created in XP/2000 cannot be read in Win9x systems?

TIA

Well XP uses a different file system if you chose to use it. I woundn't think that windows 9x would be able to read the newer file system would it? Now XP should be able to read 9x's I would think so that doesnt make much sence. GL with that

NK:
I would hazard a guess that either the floppy drive cable for the non-reading systems / the floppy drive or the floppies are defective.
All Windows systems share the same filesystem for floppy disks - FAT12; and as such you shouldnt have any problems accessing them.
