XP Device Manager
I was just looking at my device manager and noticed that I have another ethernet controller that does not have drivers to it. I forgot about this. I have tried to figure out how to install them, but have been unsuccessful. How can I get rid of this unknow device???
Also, my onboard sound card have drivers installed and is operational. As you can see below I use my 5.1 Audigy Gamer and when I do a system scan both sound devices are noticed. I am wondering how to turn this off and uninstall drivers. The drivers for the onboard audio installed when I updated my nForce drivers for the mobo. Thanks in advance guys and gals!!!

Windows XP just keeps finding the unknown device though. I will remove it, but once I restart it finds it again. I have it disabled right now, but still cant keep XP from recognizing it...
What about the onboard sound? What should I do there? Remove it also? I think it does the same thing as the unknown device. |

Hey there, AK. I had the same problem recently when I set up a dual boot with 98se. The solution given me here was to disable the onboard sound in BIOS, rather than device manager. Took care of the problem for me.

I will look into that. The weird thing is that I was pretty sure when I checked it before the onboard sound was disabled. I will look at it later.

if you have firewire on that board, it might think it is another connection,
don't worry about it |

It's generally a good rule to disable anything in the BIOS that you don't need or aren't using.

I just went into BIOS and sure enough both devices were set on AUTO. I just went ahead and set them to DISABLED. I guess when I flashed the new BIOS and installed new drivers it changed everything. I overlook the obvious sometimes! hehe
