Boot from the XP CD. XP will give you the option to format the drive and guide you through the installation.

Cool

Yes. XP will do the format and also set up partitions if you want multiple partitions. Starting with WIN98 the CD's were bootable.

Just make sure that the system is set to boot from CD Rom in the BIOS and XP will do the rest for you

You boot up into XP setup, and you tell it you want to remove the partition. Once you remove the partition and setup XP. It will automaticly format for you and load XP.

You can format and then remove the partition and then run setup. But I find it easier to just remove the partition & then run setup as it will automaticly format the hard disc for you.

When you have the bios set to CDROM as first boot device. Did you save your settings? If so place the XP cd in the CDROM and reboot.

Do you have a CDROM AND a CDRW? If so place the disk in the CDRW and it will boot.

If that isnt working, download the bootsdisks off www.bootdisk.com you need the xp ones. Make sure that A is the first boot device and put the first disk in aswell as the CD. Follow the instructions.

john ranger You have one of those computers that requires you go to into the BIOS when you want to change the boot sequence for A or CD ROM before the hard drive.

A lot of computers will go through the progression of removeable media devices then to the fixed drives.
