Mandrake and XP how to dual boot?

Hi Guys,

I recently bought one hard disk 40GB to install Mandrake and XP or W2K pro

what first should I do?

Should I create partition C: and D: using Win98 bootable disk and format C: (NTFS)
then install XP or Mandrake first?

Could someone help me the good steps to do so.

Thanks a lot for your valuable input

Regards, henry

I would recommend that you use the XP / W2K pro CD to boot up and create partitions for those that you require for XP. Leave the space for Mandrake (the sum total of all partitions for Mandrake - including swap) as unpartitioned space. Then install XP/2K. Once that is done, boot to Mandrake setup using Mandrake CDs and install to the unpartitioned space. Either way (with or without Linux) XP/2K has no clue of the existence of any other nonMS OS. So you might as well leave it blank. This is assuming that you will not use Mandrake install/Linux FDISK to create a MS partition like FATx.

HTH.

get paratition amgic, if you cant find that get paratition magic(joke on my spelling)
I have been using it for a long time and it makes life a lot easier,
it comes with boot magic, for controlling which partition to boot from.
Make the back up disks it wants you to for boot magic!

5 gigs would be enough for mandrake , but allow more for future software and file storeing space, I used 20 gig for linux.
