When I recently ran a system virus scan with NAV 2003, it showed two master boot records, but no viruses. I've only ever had one.
FYI, I have a single hard drive (non-partitioned) running Windows XP Home Edition. Why would I suddenly have two MBRs? Any ideas? Should I be concerned? Should I be looking to fix this and if so, how? Many thanks! Technically-Challenged, StorminZ |

I just checked my logs for Norton AV and it's always told me that I have two MBRs. If I'm not mistaken, Windows keeps a backup of your MBR just in case the original gets damaged. The fdisk /mbr command takes that backup copy and restores the original.

I figured out why I was getting 2 MBRs showing up in a virus scan ... when NAV does a scan, it was also scanning the removable disk in my card reader (digital camera).
Mystery solved! Thanks guys! |
