What happens if I...

What happens if I delete my TEMP folder? Would all the temp files go away?

edit: What the real question is, can I take out this folder without the temp files repearing and without any windows errors?

take the files out but not the folder

run system as normal, if no problems show up, then your ok.

if problems do appeare, then restore the recycle bin and you will be back where you were

You can delete all the temp files (and you should on a regular basis) but you can't remove the temp folder since it's part of the system. I think you'd get a message saying you can't delete it if you tried.

Just hit the Start Button, select SEARCH then Files and Folders.

In the dialog box type *.tmp and it will display all temp files in the chosen Drive, you can then delete them all.

kissfan, by doing the delete through the search files and folders, will that leave the temp folders intact?

Why not just go to Start/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Cleanup and be sure Temporary Files are checked as well as any other junk that should be gotten rid of? I do this plus defrag once a week.Takes just a few minutes.
