Delay after desktop
I am using Win XP Pro.
My problem: When i boot up with my DSL modem (power off), everything operates normally immediately after getting the desktop. I then boot the DSL modem and in 30-45 seconds i am connected. All works great.
Normally, i boot up with the DSL modem (power on), and after reaching the desktop there is up to a 2.5 minute delay before i can access any program. After the delay, all works normally.
I have opened "task manager" and it shows CPU usage at 3-17 with no indication of what is using it. I have scanned for any virus and am clean. I use ZoneAlarm. I have unchecked all items in "msconfig/startup" and was no help. I have looked in the "regedit/run and startup keys and all is normal with nothing odd. One at a time, i have removed every program that i have installed and was no help. I am at wits end. Does anyone have any ideas?
