Annoying Dial-Up Problem
I have Windows ME, and when I try to dial up the internet, where it says, "Number to be dialed" the phone number that I dial is listed twice!! I can't figure out how to get rid of one of the numbers. I've tried deleting the connection and making a new one but the phone number is still listed twice and I have to backspace to get rid of the number if you know what I mean. Any ideas?? Not sure waht to do next...

Is it set to use a calling card and perhaps it thinks the first number is the calling card???

Go to MY COMPUTER>CONTROL PANEL>MODEM and click on the button that says DIALING PROPERTIES. There is a check box to use a calling card. Uncheck that.
Also go to DIALUP NETWORKING and right click on the connection and click on PROPERTIES and below the name of the modem click the button that says CONFIGURE then click the tab at the top that says OPTIONS and be sure the box that says OPERATOR ASSIST OR MANUAL DIAL is not checked either. |

Didn't work the phone number is still listed twice.
Now when I went through the "Make new connection" wizard it had me enter in my dial up number twice which i thought was unusual. When I set it up the first time that is... Now I bet you that had something to do with it! But I don't remember what that screen said I've done this a million times but i had never seen that other screen before. |

Problem solved!!!
I had completely forgotten that I could dial a different number so I set up a different connection using that number and that did the trick! Thank god!
