When ever i log into my user account on my computer the computer always starts to dial to connect to the internet. I've checked the startup folder and ran msconfig but can't find the program that causes it to imediatley start dialing.

Is it a windows dialer or one that came from your ISP? If isp, check the properties to see if there is some sort of autodialer option.

Do you have any instant messengers? Mail checks anything that runs at startup?
check with msconfig (start > run > msconfig) to check all your startup registry entries. Might also be worth your time to check to see if you have any spyware on your computer by using something like Spybot Search & Destroy or related programs. |

Here is something that might help:
At my job we used to see this all the time, and it turned out to be a setting in Dial-up networking. To confirm if this is the cause of your issue do the following: Open My Computer Open Dial-Up Networking Click on More Choose User preferences Under "Enable auto-dial by location" check to see if any of those boxes have checks next to them. If they do, remove the checks and choose ok to all windows, and reboot to confirm if this solved your issue. |
