When we use the program frequently, I see that the program will be displayed in the start menu at the most used program list. Is it me or when I use M$ programs, office, update I see that even though I use it not that often, the icon is already there. Anyone noticed this? The most obvious program is the windows update. I use lots of ACDsee and photoshop, They are not listed in that list. Photoshoop, yes. ACDsee no.
What tricks do they use to ue this counter/counting method deciding a most used programs?

I don't have an answer to your question but I have so many of the programs I use most often pinned to the start menu that the portion you are refering to hardly exists.

I have never noticed this. I pin everything I use to the Start menu.

Guess I'm the odd-man-out. I've disabled the latest used programs display from the start menu. My most often used are icons on the task bar, in alphabetical order. I don't keep history in my IE browser either. Both are just a waste of resources to me. As the saying goes, "to each his own".

Yes, I do have the frequently used programs on the taskbar. But just noticing this. Maybe you should try using windows update and see it already frequently used
