Question Weird problem

My computer is running Win98.

For some reason my computer froze about half an hour ago.

I restarted, it froze at the windows screen, you know the one that has the moving colors at the bottom.

So I restarted, again it freezes at the windows screen.

I then booted into safe mode, looked to see if there were any new programs or files that I didn't recognize, thinking maybe a virus. Found nothing , so I restarted.

Froze at the windows screen again. I just downloaded Tweak UI a couple days ago, and remered it could repaired certain files. So I went back to safe mode, did the system file repair, and restarted.

Windows loaded to the dektop and some programs loaded, then it froze.

So I restarted, again.
Froze at the windows screen.

Restarted again , and was going to go into safe mode but I decided to try one of the other selections it gave me. I did the step by step startup, i think thats what it was called. Anf finaly windows loaded and didn't freeze .

I was realy getting woried, it happend about a month ago and I ended up reinstalling windows because I didn't have anyother computer to get online with and ask someone here.
So anyone know what was wrong?

It's not freezing in Safe Mode, right? Could be driver related.

Do you remember doing anything right before it happened the first time?

I didn't do anything different, and I didn't install anything.
I don't know why its doing this now, I had it on 7 days strait a couple days ago. Didn't have one problem with it, didnt' slow down one bit like some people say it does. I only restarted because I installed Tweak UI.

I'm intersted this because I have a machine that dose the same thing. I always blame it on my video card but he has somthing totaly differnt.

I avoid it by never restarting only powering down then booting again. However in my maching it is a easley recreated issue simpley clicking restart will do it every time. I think I have tryed almost every driver in the system and other than this it works fine.
