How long has Win98 been on your computer without a reformat and clean reinstall?
Have you scanned for viruses, spyware and trojans? Have you cleaned out the Temp folders? What kind of background programs do you have running on your computer? How are you getting on the net...modem or broadband? Cricket

You may want to save all your personal data to CD-R's and then format the hard drive and do a clean install of Win98 on the system. Over time, Windows starts to get kinda flakey...especially if you install and uninstall lots of programs. You could try to fix the problem, but it can be very frustrating trying to track down the exact cause of the problem.
Have you updated the video drivers lately? Post your system specs. How long have you had this problem? Did it start after a particular event? (installation of a program, uninstalling a program, hardware changes, etc...) Cricket

Hi Cricket, Hi kmad61
You could also try repairing IE: Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information . . .and from the "Tools" menu, choose "Internet Explorer Repair Tool" (if you don't see this option, another angle you can try is to update your IE - there's a Service Pack for IE6). . . It is almost like reinstalling Windows, it replaces so many system files ![]() Are you using a router with a hardware firewall? You can also try resetting that in case it's confused itself. Or reset the cable modem. . . . Gary |
