XP PRO Critical Updates & Windows Updates
I just finished reformatting hard drive and updating all Critical Updates along with the Blaster Worm Patch.
I also see quite a few Windows Update downloads. Question is, do most of you install all of these Windows Updates or is some of this stuff purely unnecessary? |

Driver updates I rarely download, because many times the manufacturer of the hardware in question has newer drivers anyway. If the updates are for Windows software I use, I will download it, but I don't care if the Snow White DVD doesn't work properly on some computers, and I'm not going to fix it on mine.

Well its important to update. Some updates are for "potential" pc threats.

I use the "personalize your Windows Update" option to unselect things like .Net items, Outlook express and Multilanguages. Then the system scan is more tailored to my system. Also, I get my drivers and updates from the manufacturers as they are released, not from MS. If MS reports a driver needing updates, I check it out at the device manufacturers site.
