Slow XP Installs

Ok well recently(past 2-3 weeks) my window XP Pro machine(AMD in sig) has been installing things really slowly. It won't start the installation for 10+ minutes. Just sits at 0%. Same with either demos from the HD or from a CD. Any idea's as to why this does this? Been very annoying and would love to be able to solve it.

Thanx

Run a virus scan and run Spybot S&D. Do a good cleaning.

Clean out the Windows Temp folder.

Do you remember if you installed anything new prior to this happening?

Scan for spyware with Spybot and Ad-aware.

Hmm... Well after a temp clean and a Spy Bot scan and removal of some spyware, an installation went very nice and fast. Seems odd for it to do something like that. Guess I need to keep up my work on the spare computer Thanx for the help for a seemingly obvious solution
