Win XP/MS word

Installed a new hard drive in a tyan MB sys 1 GIG Athalon. Installed winXP .NO PROBLEMS Every thing works . Then I try to insatall any one of three MS word programs . The install starts and then in a few minutes it reboots. I have tryed it with three Works suite,office 2K and windows for workgroups it does the same thing .Virus in Bios is off ?????????

Sorry Al I'm not sure why your install program closes but as for the Virus Protection being disabled in the BIOS, this is usual and has nothing to do with normal viruses. It is simply a protection against some viruses which try to overwrite your BIOS chip. But if you turn it on you cannot not flash your BIOS. Up to you really

First, to stop the auto reboot, right click on My Computer, go to Properties (or Control Panel>System), Advanced tab. In the Startup and Recover section, click on the Settings button. Uncheck "Automatically Restart," click OK and OK again to close the windows.

Now, hopefully, when you try to install one of the word processors instead of a reboot you'll get some sort of error message/blue screen which might help pinpoint the problem.

Remember that only counts for the STOP errors, if you don't see a blue screen for a split second before it reboots it might not stop it
