Icon not opening

I have the "my computer" icon on my desktop and sometimes when I try to open the icon it does not open. I double
click on it, and also right click so i get the menu, so I can manualy open it but that does not work either.

I have tried closing other programs incase I might have been low on RAM but that does not work. I even restarted my computer and that did not work.

Any idea what is happening and how i can
fix this problem?

If you get any error messages when this happens, post them & we'll see if we need to look at things further.

For a try at a quick fix, you can try this:
1) From Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information, select "Internet Explorer Repair Tool" from the "Tools" menu.
2) If you don't see this item in the Tools menu, you can either try the repair option from the Add/Remove Programs applet in Control Panel (for IE5 = Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs), or download and install the latest IE6 Service Pack from Windows Update.

Could be a damaged file in your Registry, or perhaps a file version conflict. To make sure it's not vius or spyware related, also be sure to run a full system scan with updated virus definitions, and a spyware scan with AdAware, Search & Destroy, or a similiar antispyware tool. You can find info and download links for these tools at http://www.spywareinfo.com

Best of luck
