Angry Fire AOL & IE browsers crash!

Hello,

On a Win98 box, whenever I access a specific realtor's website and it loads a series of houses for me to review, IE will generate an error, saying that it must close.

I also have AOL, and when attempting to view the website with AOL's browser, I get a WAOL.EXE error and the whole pogram crashes.

I've downloaded all of the Windows Updates and rebooted, but still get the error. I'm running the most recent version of IE.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks so much.

Shane

did you try checking the system for infection? Can you send us the link of the page you're trying to view? Did you try clearing the internet temp folder and cookies?

What's a worthwhile evening without some Knowledge Base articles to peruse?

The first two mention virus infection, so James has pointed you correctly there. File version havoc can cause some of this same behaviour.

If it's not a virus: since you sound like you already have the most recent version of IE6 (you've got the Service Pack?), you can try a "repair" of IE6 [from the "Tools" menu of System Information}. And you can try updating your AOL.

If you search in the Knowledge Base for errors associated with WAOL.exe, you quickly realize that you'd never have enough time to read them all. So I picked a few of the most likely ones. If we're lucky, your answer is in one of those. If not, post again & let us know.

If none of the fixes help, post again with the exact error messages that you're seeing. Type in the whole message, and if there is a "Details" button you can select on the error message, select that, and post that message also.

Best of luck
