System freezes after computer name - XP Media Center
Hi friends,
Since I have no idea of Media Center, I request your kind help on this issue. One of the customers has a Media Center 2004 PC yesterday and his system freezes after choosing Computer Name on the setup screen. The keyboard, mouse, speakers, and telephone line are plugged into the system. What happens exactly is when he turns on the system, he is prompted for timezone, prompted if music is playing, prompted for choosing computer name, and then when he typed it, chooses Next, it freezes. It's hard, from your post, to tell if Media Center wasn't set up properly in the first place or if the settings have been messed with.
Early adopters have to expect problems but if the comp worked before and isn't working now it sounds like it was reset incorrectly. You haven't given us much to go on, but then, you may not have much. So what happened ? Did this comp work briefly and then quit ? Did it work for a few months till someone changed settings? It worked!!!
The issue was resolved by reseating cards, memory, tightening cables.
