Shutdown problem with W2K and HP 9500 CD Burner
This problem only occurs when the old HP 9500 CD burner is plugged in. I've got it installed as the master on the secondary IDE channel.
When W2K shuts down, the system hangs if the burner's IDE cable is plugged in; unplug the cable and W2K shuts down normally. I've even tried jumpering the burner to cable select and hanging it on the primary IDE channel with the hdd, but no luck. Other system specs: Asus A7N8X, 2500 Barton, 512mb Kingston ram, WD 40gb (all new parts). HP's site was not much help and I couldn't find much support for this burner. Any ideas? Also, anyone know what "X" speed this burner is?

OK, I think I figured it out; I uninstalled all the old HP burning software, uninstalled the burner in device mgr, and then let W2K re-install it as a ordinary cd rom drive. Guess I'll look for some updated software that's compatible with this burner.
