XP icon problem

Hi guys, I'm having a little problem with XP. When logged on with either my name or my sister's the computer works fine. However, when I log on with my brother's, there are thick, black, horizontal lines through all of the icons. It only happens on his name and I'm a little stumped as to what's causing the problem. I've run NAV and it came back clean. Any thoughts?

This is probably a long shot but here goes anyway. I've never used a multiple login type of computer, but I know each user can have different settings as far as wallpaper, programs, etc goes, but can each user choose different video drivers? If so, maybe he has his video driver set to a corrupt driver or one that doesn't work right or something. That's the only thing I can think of.

Nope, the system uses one driver no matter what person is logged in, but thanks for the suggestion. The problem just started happening tonight and I didn't change anything about the system except install those two MS security patches, but even if those were causing problems I would think it would affect all users.

try making a new user acount for your brother as this looks like a damaged user account check out this link to save his setings http://support.microsoft.com/default...&Product=winxp

if you have TweakUI(a powertool from Microsoft) there is a option there to rebuild your icons.You could try that first.google tweakUI
